Simple Healthy Eating and Weight Loss Tips For Everybody

Picture
These simple and straightforward healthy eating and weight loss tips are not only  for individuals but also for those who work to help others stay healthy : parents, caretakers, teachers and community leaders to list a few. Maintaining optimum weight and health is definitely linked to healthy eating.

TIPS: What to Eat
  • Whole grains (whole wheat, steel cut oats, brown rice, quinoa)
  • Vegetables (a colorful variety—not potatoes)
  • Whole fruits (not fruit juices)
  • Nuts, seeds, beans, organic eggs, goat's sheep's yoghurt, cheeses, low fat whey cheeses, and other healthful sources of protein (fish, poultry, game)
  • Plant oils (olive and other vegetable oils)

Drink water or other beverages that are naturally calorie-free such as caffeine free herbal teas.

Avoid these foods and drinks:

NOTE:  All processed foods and drinks should make up NO MORE than 2% of your daily diet.

  • Sugar-sweetened beverages (soda, fruit drinks, sports drinks)
  • Fruit juice (no more than a small amount per day)
  • Refined grains (white bread, white rice, white pasta) and sweets - the brighter and more colourful the packaging is ... the more you have to avoid it ! If you can't pronounce the ingredients - again the more processed it is and the more harmful it is to your body.
  • Potatoes (baked or fried)
  • Red meat (beef, pork, lamb) and processed meats (salami, ham, bacon, sausage)
  • Other highly processed foods, such as fast food
